We recently supplied our Merayo roofing slate to Mr and Mrs Price at Ansty Pick Your Own & Farm Shop.
Ansty is a small village and civil parish in southwest Wiltshire, England, about 6 miles east of Shaftesbury. The village is just north of the A30 road between Shaftesbury and Salisbury. The parish includes the hamlet of Ansty Coombe.
Mrs Price’s family bought the site at Barnfield Farm in October 1998 as a diversification of their nearby dairy farm. Subsequently the dairy farm was sold to enable the family to concentrate on the expansion of the busy Farm Shop and Pick Your Own enterprise.
When they first started at the site they operated out of an old tin shack. This was then upgraded to a mobile home and then about 10 years ago they swapped this for a wooden chalet. After a large planning battle, which lasted for about 14 years they finally secured full planning permission for an agricultural dwelling.
The build was managed by PF Parsons, a local building firm based in Hindon. The roof was sub contracted to Robert Acott of Prestige Roofing Contractors from Blandford.
Mr and Mrs Price chose the Natural Roof Slate for the project and we asked them why they selected our Merayo Spanish Slate? Mr Price said they had been looking at many houses within the local area as they drove around and very much liked the appearance of the Merayo spanish slate roof. After many in depth discussions with both the architect and the team at PF Parsons they recommended the Merayo slate. After looking at some previous projects using Merayo they were convinced this was the right slate for them. Mr and Mrs Price are really pleased with the end result and the combination of the slate and the skill of Prestige roofing have really finished the house off beautifully. Not only does it look stunning but it also fits in well with the surrounding dwellings and it’s rural setting.
